The successful applicant will have a level 3 playwork qualification and/ or two years equivalent experience on an adventure playground. They are looking for a candidate that has natural playwork leadership skills and a sound, up-to-date knowledge of the principles that underpin effective and inspiring playworking with children aged up to 14, particularly in the areas of safeguarding and risk-benefit implementation and assessment.

The successful applicant will help to support and develop a dynamic team of paid staff and volunteers on their vibrant and ever-changing play-space, delivering playwork that is sensitive to the myriad cultural backgrounds of the children and families who attend there. S/he will be attendant to the current financial and political situation in the voluntary sector, both in Bristol and nationally, and as well as ‘face-to-face’ duties will engage in work that involves multi-agency relationship building, fundraising, safeguarding and representing Felix Road to potential partners and supportive organisations.


As a newly independent organization, this is an opportunity to participate in a dynamic and highly effective adventure playground with deep roots within the community that puts play and the principles of playworking front-and-centre of their organizational ethos.

The post entails

Permanent contract of 25 hours (averaged out over the year – longer hours in the holiday than term time)

  • £23,088 Pro Rata
  • Standard working week is Sunday to Thursday
  • Potential through funded projects to accrue additional hours
  • Must be happy to work evenings and weekends, and the occasional short residential break
